Enter the CASC Chili Cooking Contest POTEAU –
Carl Albert State College will be serving up hundreds of bowls of the best chili
in the area at this year’s Wal-Mart/CASC Chili Cooking Contest.
The college invites the community to enter their finest
chili in the contest by downloading the online entry form at
http://www.carlalbert.edu/banner/chili.docx.
The annual competition will take place on CASC’s Poteau
campus on Feb. 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is the 14th
year of the contest, which will take place in the CASC Ballroom on the second
floor of the Costner-Balentine Student Center.
There is no entry fee and numerous prizes will be awarded
to individuals, businesses, banks, clubs and others who make the tastiest chili.
Lots of door prizes will also be given away during the
event, plus the silent auction will feature items no one will want to miss. Tickets
to the event are $7 and purchase all you can eat of the chili, hotdogs, drinks
and desserts. Tickets are available from many CASC employees including Michelle
White in room 804 of the F.L. Holton Business Center (918-647-1399).
The chili cooking contest is sponsored by Wal-Mart, which has again agreed to
match up to $2,000 of proceeds from ticket sales. The contest is a fundraising
effort by staff, faculty, students, and supporters of CASC to benefit the CASC
Development Foundation, which provides scholarships to students and builds
dormitories. This year’s funds will be used to pay dormitory debt.
Since it began, the Chili Cooking Contest has
raised more than $82,000, all of which has directly benefited the lives of CASC
students. |
