Textbook Buying Tips

All textbooks for each course are arranged alphabetically by course name and number.  A class schedule from the Business Office is required to match course and section numbers on the shelves.  There are different instructors for several courses and they each have a different textbook selection.  If an instructor has informed us he or she will not require the textbook we post that information on the shelf tags.  Once you purchase the book it is yours unless you drop the class.  We strongly recommend you attend class and you decide if you need a book before purchasing it.

Why You Should Purchase Your Textbooks

Your professors have carefully chosen the course materials for your courses.  These textbooks are intended to provide the primary source of information as well as complement what is being presented in class.  Think of them as continuous learning tools, providing you with access to knowledge, insight and experience.  And, after you've earned your degree, these same textbooks will become an excellent reference for solutions to the many challenges you are sure to face during your career.

New vs. Used Textbooks

Used textbooks are "recycled textbooks".  Perfect condition of used textbooks cannot be guaranteed.  Whenever possible, we will provide you with a choice between new and used textbooks.  While some prefer books free from marks and highlighting, others may appreciate our used textbooks, which could save you up to 25% (sometimes more!) over the cost of a new textbook.

Policies

Refunds/Returns:

Keep your receipts. Refunds on all textbook purchases may be obtained if the following conditions are met:

  • Possession of cash register receipt and completed drop form.  Refunds will not be given if you find a cheaper book or decide you will not be needing the book.  We recommend that you attend class before purchasing your textbooks.
  • New textbooks must be in brand new condition and totally free of all markings.  If they contain any markings, names, or highlighting, the refund allowance will be based on the used-book purchase price.
  • Refund period for the textbooks is ten days from the date of purchase.
  • Defective products should be returned immediately for full refund or exchange.
  • All regularly priced merchandise in original condition may be returned within ten days of purchase for a full refund.  A cash register receipt is required for all refunds or exchanges.  Without a receipt, merchandise may only be exchanged at the current value of the merchandise.
  • Online order shipping costs are non-refundable.
  • If the incorrect book is mailed to your home due to an error on our part, notify us immediately and a call pickup will be issued for the incorrect book and full credit will be given.

Book Buy Back

Book Buy Back is a service provided to students at the end of each semester during Finals Week. (Fall/Spring/Summer).  During this time, students may sell their used textbooks to the Bookstore.  Dates and times will be posted on campus at least two weeks in advance.  New textbooks that will be used for the following semester may be sold back for 50% of the original list price.  Textbooks that were purchased at the "used price" may be sold back for 30% of the original new list price.  When sufficient quantities are purchased to fulfill our needs for the next semester or a textbook is not being utilized on campus, textbooks may be purchased at wholesale if possible.  Titles listed with additional materials (cd-roms, diskettes, study guides, audio tapes) MUST accompany the textbook. Books missing these items may be purchased at a reduced price.  Books must be in good, re-sellable condition.  Books with water damage, bad bindings, taped pages, or missing covers cannot be re-purchased.  Workbooks, lab manuals, or any type of reference materials will not be repurchased.  Limited quantities of each textbook will be re-purchased, and quantities may be filled before the Book Buy Back is completed.
