Cash Named Rothbaum Scholar

POTEAU – Aaron Cash of Heavener will receive Carl Albert State College’s highest academic honor at graduation on Friday.

Cash has been selected by the CASC Development Foundation to receive the Julian J. Rothbaum Scholarship, effectively making him CASC’s valedictorian.

The late Julian Rothbaum of Tulsa was a close friend of Carl Albert and was a great benefactor to CASC. He provided funds to establish the yearly scholarship.

“I’m surprised and excited to receive this award,” Cash said. “It’s an honor that will help me further my education.”

Cash will give the valedictory address at CASC Graduation at 7:30 p.m. on Friday in the Mick Thompson Fitness Center. He receives a $1,500 transfer scholarship.

Cash is a pre-law major and plans to transfer to the University of Central Oklahoma or Northeastern State University where he will major in journalism. He plans to go to law school after receiving his bachelor’s degree.

Cash has maintained a 4.0 grade point average while being involved in many activities at CASC. He is a member of the Scholars Program, Phi Theta Kappa, Student Government, Spanish Club and College Republicans. He is also a resident assistant for CASC’s student housing.

In his spare time, Cash enjoys the outdoors and working on cars.

He is the son of Wayne and Kathy Cash of Heavener.
