Requesting a CASC Student Worker
Federal and Institutional Work-Study employment is arranged through the Office
of Financial Aid. CASC Employees who wish to hire student workers must
complete the following steps before students may begin work.
-
Complete and submit an
Employment Request Form (ERF) using the online form for each available
position in the department or organization. Information from the ERF is used
to post student job vacancies on the board outside the Financial Aid Office.
Incomplete ERF's will be returned to the department and the job posting will
be delayed.
-
The
Request for
Student Work-Study & Payroll Authorization Form is used by the Office of
Financial Aid to hire and authorize the student for the work-study position.
The supervisor will fill out the form and route for required signatures.
An ERF must already be on file or must accompany the authorization
form.
(When a student inquires about a job,
they will be given a preliminary statement indicating how many hours per
week they would be eligible to work.
This preliminary statement will be shown to the supervisor before the
student is hired to make sure the department’s needs would be adequately
met.)
-
Once the President has
approved the Payroll Authorization, the Federal Work- study student will be
notified and requested to report to the Financial Aid office to complete all
the necessary documents to begin working.
After documentation is obtained, the Work-Study Coordinator sends a
Final Employment Authorization to the supervisor showing the total number of
hours the student may work, along with the student’s time sheet.
The supervisor may begin working a student upon receiving the above
mentioned documents. (Completed
Timesheets will be turned in to the Financial Aid office.)
-
The Institutional
Work-Study student will be requested to report to the payroll office after
the President has approved the Payroll Authorization.
The payroll officer will complete the necessary documentation for the
student to begin employment. Upon
completion of the documents, the student will receive their first time sheet
and may report to the supervisor to begin work.
(Completed Timesheets will be turned in to the Financial Aid office.)
These procedures will be the same no matter if the student is a returning
Work-Study or a New Work-Study.
Under no circumstance will
the Office of Financial Aid authorize payment for any student working before all
employment documents have been completed and submitted for approval.
