Welcome to the historic Robert S. Kerr Conference Center & Museum, the home of the first native born Governor of Oklahoma and long-time U.S. Senator, the late Robert S. Kerr. The Kerr family donated the 11,000 square foot home to the State of Oklahoma in 1978 and it was eventually opened as a Bed-n-Breakfast. The home was started in 1957 and completed in 1960. It is now a romantic hide-a-way with meeting facilities for business travelers or seclusion for pleasure travelers.
We have two seminar rooms and a spacious dining room available. The large deck, just off the dining room, offers a spectacular view of the Poteau River Valley below. Our food service is available for group meals. A free continental breakfast comes with each lodging room.
There are 10 spacious sleeping rooms in the main house, each with its own private bath and distinct personality. Rooms 101 - 103 and 110 are named after previous Presidents of our United States (John F. Kennedy, Gerald Ford, George W. Bush and Lyndon B. Johnson) who have stayed in those rooms. Room 104 is dedicated to Carl Albert, who was a frequent visitor. Rooms 105 & 106 are the Ship Rooms, originally one large playroom for the Kerr grandchildren.
Upstairs is Mrs. Kerr's sewing room equipped with 2 double beds and 2 twin beds built into the walls. Her sleeping room was down the hall and is now room 109. Mr. Kerr's private bedroom was turned into room 108 and is famous for the bull head faucets, drawer pulls, and bathroom tile. There are 10 additional rooms in an annex to the mansion, each with private bath and the same wonderful view of the Poteau River Valley.
Located next to the mansion is a wonderful museum, which depicts the history and development of Eastern Oklahoma. A new wing houses comprehensive displays from the Senator's private and public life, including his Washington, D.C., office.
The Kerr Conference Center can help you plan for the perfect wedding, reception, retreat, birthday party, seminar, luncheon, dinner, getaway and/or reunion.
