Information for Online Mathematics Courses

MyMathLab (New for Fall 2007)

 

What you need to use MyMathLab

  1. MyMathLab software package with access code
  2. Valid E-mail address
  3. Computer access
  4. Course ID number from instructor

Registering your software

  1. Go to http://www.coursecompass.com
  2. Choose Register under the Students section
  3. Click Next on the screen
  4. Make sure that “No, I am a new user” is selected
    1. Access code:  Type in your six-word access found in your MyMathLab software package.
    2. School Zip—74953
    3. School Country- Select United States from the dropdown box
    4. Click Next
    5. Enter your course ID number.  westfall52206 for College Algebra, wylie54502 for Survey of Contemporary of Mathematics.
    6. Click Next
  5. Enter your personal information on the screen
    1. Your email must be valid
    2. Login name:  You may use anything you want here
    3. Password:  You may use anything you want here
    4. Pick a security question you want to answer and type your answer
    5. Click Next
  6. If you get the Confirmation and Summary page, then you have registered successfully
  7. If you don’t, then read the RED text at the top of the page and fix what it says needs to be fixed
  8. Click Log In Now

The Plug-ins

            Before you can start working on your course material, you have to download the plug-ins.  These allow you to see video lecture, problems, etc…

  1. Look at the button on the left that is labeled Installation Wizard
  2. Click on this button
  3. Click on the words MyMathLab Installation Wizard
  4. Click the Next button.  The wizard will work you through the setup process.  If you need help click Product Support.  These plug-ins will have to be installed on every computer on which you plan on doing any assignments and testing.

Working on your course material

  1. Go to http://www.coursecompass.com
  2. Click the Log In button for Students.  You will get a screen with your class in it.  Click on the class and you will be in the course.
  3. Click the Do Homework button
  4. Select the assignment you want to work on
  5. Click the question you want to work on.  If you are just starting Question 1 is the best place to start.  If you are returning, then pick the problem you wish to do next
  6. When you have finished the entire assignment, click on the Submit Work button.  DO NOT click on this button until you are finished with every problem!  You can log in and out as many times as needed until the due date and your information will be saved.

Extra Practice

  1. Log into your course
  2. Click the Chapter Content button
  3. Click on the chapter you want
  4. Click the section you want
  5. Click on the video presentation to watch the video lecture
  6. For extra practice click on the multimedia textbook exercise set or tracked tutorial exercises

Grades

            You can click on the Gradebook button to check your grades.
