Vice President’s Welcome

Hello!

Welcome to the Carl Albert State College! We have five academic departments: Health Science, Mathematics and Science, Business and Technology, Social and Behavioral Science, Communications and Fine Arts, and provide an excellent, committed faculty and staff to our outstanding student body. As VPAA, I am dedicated to leading the college along its path of continuous improvement and increased scholarship by the faculty and students.

Higher education is full of opportunities and challenges for students seeking success and improvement in their lives. At Carl Albert State College we are excited about the success of our students and have a long history of meeting students where they are, preparing them for success, and celebrating their accomplishments.  Whether a concurrent high school student, a traditional student, a non-traditional student, full-time, or part-time, CASC is there for you with programs and courses that will help you succeed!

Higher education truly makes a difference in the world, on both a personal and a global scale.  I applaud the ambition of our students, recognize their fears, and support their efforts.  We are all in this together, and together we can succeed, reaching new heights for the student, the community, and the world!  College isn’t just about obtaining degrees and gaining access to better jobs; there are entire realms of opportunities and relationships that are discovered on a college campus.  I am truly excited to welcome you, and all of our students and supporters, to find success at CASC!

The Academic Program Review Committee is to review and evaluate academic programs and degrees. The purpose is to guide the development, improvement, or deletion of academic programs and degrees to ensure successful and appropriate utilization of college resources. The committee will evaluate programs and degrees every five years in coordination with Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education required review process (OSRHE 3.7.4).  The program review will serve as an external review committee with the purpose evaluating programs and degrees within the institution and outside of the committee members’ normal teaching and/or coordinating responsibilities.  This will include a program self-review that provides evidence of student learning, institutional resource utilization, and completion and its relationship to Higher Learning Commission Criteria.

The purpose of the review process is to establish the following:

1.  Student learning outcomes for each program and degree are clearly represented and are measurable for effective assessment.

2.  Programs and Degree resources are utilized to support effective teaching.

3.  Establish the curriculum, program, and degree quality and program’s relevance to the mission of the college is essential for appropriate college decision concerning programs and degrees.

4.  The college practices share governance in decision making process concerning program and degree opportunities and utilization of college resources and funds.
