Division Mission Statement:
The Communications/Fine Arts Division is committed to preparing students for successful transfer to
four year colleges and universities or for successful placement in rewarding careers through
comprehensive courses in English, Speech/Theatre, Music, and Art.
The Communications and Fine Arts Division at Carl Albert State College is dedicated to helping students pursue, explore, and discover their passions for the liberal arts. Our courses make up a significant portion of the general education requirements, including English composition, and humanities courses including music and art appreciation, philosophy, religious studies, foreign language, and literature.
We offer an Associate of Arts in General Studies with recommended tracks in Communications, English, Humanities, Religion, Speech/Theatre; and a Communications degree which emphasizes either English.
We also advise for pre-elementary education majors, and pre-secondary education majors wishing to teach in the humanities area.
There are always exciting things going on in our division: show choir performances, pep band practices and performances, educational field trips, and more.
Faculty offices are located in the George Ollie, Jr. Center for Academic Excellence and in the Hamilton Complex.
If you need advisement or are interested in any of our programs or organizations, come by and visit with our friendly faculty.

**Students wishing to pursue careers in secondary education should major in the field of study in which they plan to teach. Upon transferring to a four-year school, students can then major in secondary education for that field.
