Aubree-ana Garrett – Success at Carl Albert State College
Aubree-ana Garrett just graduated from Carl Albert State College this May as a business administration major. The daughter of James Garrett and Deree Mitchell, Aubree-ana came to Carl Albert from Sallisaw and plans to continue her education by pursuing a degree in accounting.
Aubree-ana talked about her time at Carl Albert, “I had the amazing opportunity to become a Nigh Scholar. Each institute in the State selects one representative to attend the three day Nigh Leadership Conference, and I was fortunate enough to be chosen.”
In addition to being in the Scholars Program, Aubree-ana served as Student Government Association President, was involved in the Student Activities Board, a member of Phi Theta Kappa, VIKES Club, and Viking Ambassadors. She also volunteered for two years at the Scholars Reception, Miss CASC, CASC Homecoming, and the Foundation Gala.
When asked about a faculty member who influenced her while at CASC, Aubree-ana explained, “The instructor I would brag on the most is Mrs. Hali Repass. She was the first instructor I ever met at CASC. Since then, she has become my teacher, mentor, and role model. I don’t know what I would have done without her these past two years. I am so grateful for everything she has done for me, and I will miss her and her wonderful family.”
In discussing her experiences at Carl Albert, Aubree-ana shared, “I would recommend everyone go to Carl Albert. The faculty and staff go beyond the call of duty to make sure you have what you need to succeed.” She concluded, “I came to Carl Albert because of the wonderful opportunities I had by becoming a CASC Scholar. It was affordable and close to home. Carl Albert was a good transition coming from a smaller school, and I wasn’t overwhelmed by campus.”
