Buddy Spencer CASC’s Regents Business Partnership Excellence Award Recipient
Buddy Spencer was recently honored as Carl Albert State College’s Regents Business Partnership Excellence Award recipient. The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education and The Economic Development Council recognized business partners from across the state at the annual awards luncheon on March 11, 2014. The event was at the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City.
Spencer has been a driving force of Carl Albert State College success at the College’s Sallisaw location. His influence was a key factor in the passage of two Sallisaw sales tax issues that funded the expansion of the campus, including the construction of a two-story classroom building and library.
As Chairman of the CASC Sallisaw Committee for Excellence, he leads the annual campaign to raise funds for over 60 scholarships a year. One of the most prestigious scholarships available to Sequoyah County students is the Buddy Spencer Academic Scholarship for students to attend CASC – Sallisaw. Buddy serves on the CASC Development Foundation Executive Committee, and in 2009 he was inducted into the Carl Albert State College Hall of Fame.
Carl Albert State College President Garry M. Ivey stated, “Carl Albert State College is a better place because of the outstanding generosity of Buddy Spencer as he works diligently to provide educational opportunities to the community he loves.”
