CARL ALBERT EXTENDS DISTANCE-LEARNING FORMAT THROUGH SUMMER 2020

CARL ALBERT EXTENDS DISTANCE-LEARNING FORMAT THROUGH SUMMER 2020

The Executive Cabinet of Carl Albert State College continues to evaluate the developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, and works to respond accordingly- making logical, well-informed decisions, with the overall goal of protecting the campus community.  After careful consideration and deliberation from the Executive Cabinet, the decision has been made to transition to a fully online format for Summer 2020. Our current distance learning format will continue throughout the summer months. Again, students will need to continue the current routine. Faculty and staff remain available to students via phone, email, Zoom, and other formats. Students are encouraged to continue to reach out with any questions or concerns. As a reminder, open enrollment has begun, and the enrollment advisors are working diligently to ensure each student receives the best possible service.   Currently, each building on the Poteau campus is closed to students and the general public, and, following the Sallisaw Mayor’s shelter-in-place proclamation, the Sallisaw campus is completely closed to non-essential staff.  In Poteau, all correspondence must be done via phone, email, or regular mail.  All residence halls will remain closed.

On both campuses (Poteau and Sallisaw), Wi-Fi services will be available in the parking lots.  We invite you to visit the campus and remain in your vehicle, and utilize the Wi-Fi services to complete assignments and conduct correspondence.  We would also like to extend this offer to any elementary, middle, or high school student of one of our area schools who does not have regular access to the internet; please come and take advantage of our Wi-Fi services to complete your work as well.

  • Poteau Campus/Students: Large parking lot between the Stivers Center and the Ollie Center.
    • Sallisaw Campus/Students: Parking lot between the Mayo and Mitchell buildings.  Additionally, DiamondNet has WiFi available in two separate locations. Location one is the parking lot between Sallisaw Lumber and the library. The network is DiamondNet and the Password is BlackDiamond. Location two is Brushy Lake. The network is BrushyLake and the password is BrushyLake.

Campus police will regularly patrol both campuses.
