Carl Albert State College Announces New Health Information Technology Degree Available Completely ONLINE
Carl Albert State College has announced their Health Information Technology (HIT) degree will be available completely online beginning this fall.
Dr. Jason Morrison, CASC Vice President for Academics stated, “We are really excited to announce this program can be completed as an online degree plan. This degree prepares students to be medical records and health information technicians. Our particular degree has many attributes including an affordable price compared to many similar programs online. Our tuition is less than half the cost of for-profit career colleges, and there is no increased out of state tuition costs. Working students can complete this degree and continue to be employed, and obviously it can be done from anywhere since it is online. Our goal is for students in this program to graduate and go to work in a profession that is in high demand and pays well.”
JLynn Smith is the Director of the new program and shared several important factors about the career opportunities for students graduating with the HIT degree:
- Job flexibility in the medical field with no direct hands-on patient care!
- Opportunities for employment at acute care hospitals, physician offices, government agencies, consulting firms, long-term care facilities, insurance companies, health information exchanges, vendors, work-from-home opportunities and more!
- The national RHIT credential is recognized in all 50 states and many international countries!* (CASC’s program will be up for accreditation as the first cohort group nears graduation.)
- Traditional roles including Director of Health Information Management, Medical Coder, Release of Information Specialist, etc., and emerging roles like Health Data Analyst/Informatics, Privacy Officer, Chief Knowledge Officer, EHR Implementation Specialist, Revenue Cycle Management, Compliance, etc.
Dr. Morrison explained, “JLynn has extensive experience in the HIT field, and has helped us put together an excellent degree plan. Potential students can contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 918-647-1347. Interested individuals need to contact JLynn as soon as possible to learn more about the program and get enrolled to begin classes on August 12, 2015.”
