Carl Albert State College Continues to Build Transfer Agreements to Benefit Students

Carl Albert State College has added two additional transfer agreements, one with Arkansas Tech University (ATU) and the other with UA Fort Smith (UAFS).   According to CASC Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Jason Morrison, these two go on a growing list of opportunities for CASC students as they consider the next step in their education and career process.

CASC and ATU have agreed to cooperate for the purpose of assisting licensed registered nurse graduates of CASC to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.  This agreement offers students a seamless, online degree option to increase the number of BSN credentialed registered nurses.  Dr. Morrison went on to explain, “ATU houses a faculty member at Sparks Hospital, and the contact person from ATU is Rebecca Burris.  She is the director of nursing and has been a key player in getting this agreement.   The agreement also produced a general transfer agreement for general education courses at ATU.”

“The UAFS agreement is a continuation of past agreements and this provides a crosswalk into the Information Technology Program,” stated Dr. Morrison. “This program is focused on students completing their Associate of Arts in Computer Information Systems at CASC and then transferring the CASC hours into the UAFS Bachelor of Science in Information Technology degree requirements.”   CASC instructor Tommy Smith stated, “The transfer agreement with UAFS is a great opportunity for our students.  As an adviser, it helps me better prepare my students for the courses they will be taking in their pursuit of a bachelor degree. Also, it will give Carl Albert students an opportunity to continue their education through a bachelor’s degree without leaving the area.”
