Carl Albert State College Development Foundation Celebration of Giving

Carl Albert State College Development Foundation’s “Founders’ Evening – A Celebration of Giving” honored Deanna J. Reed as the newest member of the College’s Hall of Fame, and Pepsi Beverages Company as the Statue of Liberty Recipient.  In addition, Steve Holton, Foundation Chair, presented commemorative apples of appreciation to Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond Club inductees.

The evening included a reception and dinner at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Center emceed by James Smith, Foundation Secretary.

Deanna Reed is one of Carl Albert State College’s greatest benefactors and supporters.  The state of the art Deanna J. Reed Science and Math Center on the Poteau campus displays her name in appreciation of her family’s generous gift to make the creation of the Center possible.

A Carl Albert State College Regent since 1999, Reed and her husband Bob are longtime contributors to the Adopt-a-Scholar Program and numerous other scholarships. She is a co-chair of the Holiday Gold Dust Gala, an event that raises thousands of dollars annually for the Carl Albert State College Foundation. As a key supporter of the Miss CASC Pageant, Deanna assists with various aspects of the pageant each year, including hosting an elegant luncheon at her home for the contestants.

Pepsi began providing scholarships for students attending Carl Albert State College in 1986, and has maintained their involvement with the College every year.  The College became an exclusive Pepsi campus in 1997, and since then Pepsi has been the corporate sponsor of the CASC Scholars Reception.

In addition to adopting two scholars each year and their Scholars Reception financial support, Pepsi Beverages Company donates beverages for the Scholars Reception, Chili Cooking Contest, golf tournaments in both Sallisaw and Poteau, and other Carl Albert events when requested.

Executive Director of the CASC Foundation Kathy Quirk stated, “All of those honored, including the Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond Club inductees, are the heartbeat of the Foundation.  They generously donate their resources and time to provide scholarships, endowed professorships, dormitories and opportunities for CASC, its faculty and students to succeed.”

Carl Albert State College President Garry M. Ivey had the honor of presenting representatives from Pepsi with the Statue of Liberty Award and also led the induction and presentation of the 2014 Hall of Fame Award to Regent Reed. When discussing the success of the evening President Ivey stated, “We had a wonderful crowd of Carl Albert State College friends who value the contributions of the Regent Reed and Pepsi to Carl Albert State College.” President Ivey concluded, “It was a great evening of celebration that highlighted the importance of the partnership between the College and our community.”
