Carl Albert State College Leadership Summit
The Carl Albert State College Student Government Association (SGA) and CASC Scholars Program hosted the CASC Leadership Summit on Monday, April 20, 2015 on the College’s Poteau campus. Ninety-seven student leaders from 13 area high schools were in attendance.
SGA President Josh Blake welcomed the guests to campus, and Pam Ivey lead a breakout session titled “The Road Ahead.” The high school students participated in events and teambuilding exercises at both the Vike House and the Mick Thompson Fitness Center. Mr. James Smith was the keynote speaker at the summit, and shared thoughts on leadership skills.
The SGA at Carl Albert State College is under the direction of Associate Vice President for Student Life Randy Graves and Student Activities/Asst. Residential Life Coordinator Scotty Morrison.
Jay Falkner, Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management stated, “Our Carl Albert student leaders did a great job implementing this event. It has been years since Carl Albert hosted a leadership summit, and we were pleased to bring this event back to campus. We plan for it to become an annual event that focuses on the importance of leadership at all levels of a student’s life.” Jennifer Humphreys, Enrollment and Retention Specialist, stated the event was a huge success. Both Falkner and Humphreys work closely with the CASC student leaders as co-advisors of the Carl Albert State College student Scholars Program.
