Carl Albert State College Senior FAFSA Evening Announced
The TRIO programs at Carl Albert State College in Poteau are sponsoring a CASC Senior FAFSA Evening on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Educational Talent Search (ETS) and Upward Bound (UB) high school seniors will contact their specific programs for appointments. High school seniors who are not in those programs will contact the Educational Opportunity Center located in Hemphill Hall at the CASC Poteau campus. All three TRIO programs are 100% federally funded programs housed at CASC.
According to EOC Coordinator Kelly Kellogg, the 2017-2018 FAFSA opened October 1, 2016. “Our TRIO programs are here and ready to help high school seniors and their parents as they prepare to file the FAFSA application. FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, and it is essential that families get their applications filed as early as possible in order to know what financial aid will be available when students start college following high school graduation.”
Kellogg continued, “This is the first year for the FAFSA application process to have an early submission date. Students and parents can file the 2017-2018 FAFSA now using 2015 tax information instead of waiting for the 2016 tax season. We are hopeful the earlier filing date will be helpful to students and their parents in getting their financial aid in place.”
“High school seniors attending the FAFSA evening will need to be accompanied by a parent in order to complete the FAFSA. Students and/or their parents are encouraged to call the applicable program to schedule appointments and receive details on the required documentation needed to file the FAFSA.
The TRIO program phone numbers are ETS at 918-647-1379, EOC at 918-647-1396, or UB at 918-647-1384.
