Carl Albert State College Voice Student Makes Finals at Naftzger Young Artists Music Awards
Harmony Chapin, a voice student at Carl Albert State College, recently traveled to Wichita to perform in the finals of the Naftzger Young Artists Auditions and Music Awards. Chapin is a CASC sophomore music major from Mena, Arkansas.
Tristan Alexander assisted Chapin by recording her song to enter in the contest. Alexander is from Poteau and is also a sophomore music major at Carl Albert. Bill King was Harmony’s accompanist.
Dana Dinsmore-Davis, an instructor in the CASC music program, stated, “This is a very prestigious competition, and to have a Carl Albert State College music major make the finals is an outstanding accomplishment.”
The Naftzger Young Artists Auditions and Music Awards are for undergraduate and graduate students attending schools in Kansas, Missouri or Oklahoma. Awards are given in piano, voice, and instrumental. The Auditions are administered by the Wichita Symphony Society, Inc., and are made possible by the Naftzger Fund for Fine Arts., Inc.
