CASC Educational Opportunity Center Providing Free Workshops to Help Adults Prepare to Enter Postsecondary Education Programs

The Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) at Carl Albert State College is presenting a four part workshop series entitled “The Adult ABCs of Entering College and Technical School.”

According to EOC Coordinator Kelly Kellogg, the workshops are free, and each monthly workshop will cover a specific topic concerning the process and preparation of entering a postsecondary program.

The first workshop will be from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at the Literacy Council of LeFlore County located at 408 Dewey Avenue in Poteau.  It will cover the first steps of going back to school including information about financial aid and the admissions process.

Kellogg explained, “The workshops will be in a relaxed, informal environment.   The goal is to provide adults with information and resources available so they feel confident in continuing their education.”  She continued, “At this first workshop, free drinks will be catered by The Coffee Cup.  We invite everyone to stop by to gain useful information.”

Educational Opportunity Center is one of the TRIO programs housed at Carl Albert State College, and is funded 100% by the U.S. Department of Education.  The EOC program budget is $510,799 and serves 1675 participants.
