CASC Scholars Reception

Two former Carl Albert State College Presidents, Joe E. White and Garry M. Ivey, were in attendance along with CASC President Jay Falkner at this year’s annual CASC Scholars Reception on September 29, 2016..

President Falkner stated, “I dare say it is rare to have aimg_4302a-three-presidents-for-media-releasen occasion where three CASC presidents are all together.   We certainly enjoyed the opportunity to pose for a photo at the end of a great evening as we recognized our scholars and their sponsors.”

CASC Executive Director of the Development Foundation Mandy Roberts stated, “The Scholars Reception is always a fun evening for the CASC scholar students to have dinner with their sponsors and get to know one another. The sponsors include CASC Regents, CASC Trustees, local businesses, clubs, organizations, individuals, and CASC employees.  Sponsors provide an $850 scholarship to apply to a scholar’s meal cost for the academic year.  The New Horizon Show Choir always provides entertainment at the reception, and the Pepsi Beverages Company is the corporate sponsor for the event.  Roberts concluded, “The weather was fantastic, and we were very pleased with this year’s reception.”

President Falkner explained, “Our Scholars Program is designed to provide educational and leadership learning opportunities to highly motivated students. Their selection into the program is based on academic achievement and leadership ability. The students experience the unique academic and social environment of on-campus living through the Scholars Centers on the Poteau campus.”
