College Fairs at Carl Albert State College Campuses Provide Education Information

Carl Albert State College hosted College Fairs at both the Poteau and Sallisaw campuses on October 24, 2016. Members of the Carl Albert State College Enrollment Center, alomedia-image-college-fair-2016ng with colleges and universities from across the region, were in attendance to represent their respective institutions. CASC TRIO staff members were on hand to assist their participants in attendance, and also representatives of the CASC Native American FAS-TRACC Program were there to help existing and potential students of CASC.

According to CASC Recruiter Haley Kozderka, the annual college fairs are a great chance for area students to learn more about higher education opportunities. She explained that with correct information in hand, students and their parents can compare colleges and make wise decisions.

Jennifer Humphreys, CASC Vice President for Enrollment Management stated, “We encourage students and their families to do their homework, and we hope they realize that graduating from Carl Albert will pay off now and in the future.”  She continued, “Our faculty and staff are here to give students individualized help from start to finish. For some of our students, they earn a certificate or degree and head straight to the work force. For many of our students, they graduate from Carl Albert and then transfer to one of the colleges represented at the College Fairs to continue their education.”

Carl Albert State College President Jay Falkner explained that transfer agreements with various universities are in existence, and others are being created and/or updated to ensure that Carl Albert graduates have a smooth transition following CASC graduation. In addition, President Falkner stated that for many Carl Albert students, transfer scholarships may be available as students go from Carl Albert to a university system.
