Concurrent Class Tuition Waivers Available for High School Juniors and Seniors

Carl Albert State College is announcing they will continue providing tuition waivers to high school juniors for concurrent classes.

According to CASC President Jay Falkner, “Concurrent classes are very important to our students.  Removing the junior wavier has been a big discussion across the state, and we have decided at this time to continue providing both junior and senior waivers for qualified students at Carl Albert.”  He continued, “In all honesty, with the current budget issues in the state we will take a financial loss to continue the junior waiver program. We are doing it because we feel it is the right thing to do as long as it is financially feasible. It is part of our mission to provide education that leads to student success.”

At Carl Albert, high school juniors and seniors tuition is waived for up to six credit hours per semester.  According to Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education policy, CASC cannot waive course fees, therefore fees are the responsibility of the students.

There are many benefits associated with concurrent classes.  Students can save money on the cost of their overall college education, they can reduce the time they spend as full-time students earning their college degree, they are better prepared when they become full time college students, and their concurrent classes can transfer to any public colleges in Oklahoma.

There is still time for high school students to enroll in concurrent classes this spring at CASC.  The 2018 spring semester begins January 16, 2018.   For information, call the Enrollment Center at 918-647-1248.
