Garry M. Ivey assumed the duties as President of Carl Albert State College July 1, 2013 after serving seven months as Interim President. Leading up to that time, Mr. Ivey’s 34 years of service to the College included positions as Construction Management Instructor from August 1979 – June 1994; Department Chair for Technical Occupations Division from August 1982 – June 1994; he became the CEO of the Carl Albert State College Development Foundation in June 1994, and then added Assistant to the President to his position at the College from August 1979 – August, 2012. One of his many responsibilities as Assistant to the President included serving as Construction/Project Manager for both the Poteau and Sallisaw campuses.
His education background includes an Associate of Science Degree from Carl Albert State College (then Poteau Junior College), a Bachelor of Science in Education and Master of Behavioral Studies from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, and additional graduate hours from the University of New Mexico, Northeastern State University, and Oklahoma State University.
Mr. Ivey and his wife Pam have two daughters, Leslie and Lauri; one son, Steven; and seven grandsons.
