Regent Jerry Hetherington has served the Board of Regents since 1982. He lives in Sallisaw where he has been a driving force behind the development of CASC Sallisaw, spearheading efforts to raise more than 50 scholarships for Sequoyah County students. The flag plaza at the Sallisaw campus bears his name. Hetherington graduated from Panama High School in 1966 as Valedictorian and earned All-State Football honors and a football scholarship to the University of Oklahoma. He played for the Sooners from 1966 to 1970 when he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. After graduation, he went to work for the Sallisaw Lumber Company and is now president of that organization. He is a longtime member of the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce. He and his wife, Georgia, are members of Immanuel Baptist Church in Sallisaw. They have one son, Jarret.
