Carl Albert State College Hosting Enrollment Night on July 30th at Poteau Campus
Event Designed especially for Single Parents, but everyone is invited to attend
Carl Albert State College is hosting an Enrollment Night on July 30, 2015 at the Poteau campus. The event is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the first floor of the F. L. Holton Business Center. It is especially set up for single parents, but other students needing to use this time to apply for admission and/or enroll for fall classes at Poteau, Sallisaw or online are encouraged to attend.
Jessica Lloyd, CASC Carl Perkins Career Center Coordinator / Counselor, works in the Enrollment Center and recently wrote a grant to assist single parents attend college. Lloyd explained, “The grant was made possible through the SMART Grant. We know it is hard for single parents to find time to get by campus to prepare for classes. We are providing this evening so people can come to campus after work and even bring their families with them.” She continued, “Refreshments will be available and also bouncy houses will be set up to entertain children while parents gain information that will help them prepare for college.”
Among the topics to be presented are steps to becoming a student at Carl Albert, financial aid, and the new Health Information Technology degree that is available completely online.
“Lloyd stated, “We have many options to offer our students to make college accessible and affordable. We encourage everyone to take advantage of this event to visit with us and become a student this fall at Carl Albert State College. Financial aid is available to qualified students, so it is important to fill out financial aid applications as soon as possible. We have staff members available to assist with these applications.”
