Lavon Williams was recently reappointed as a Regent on the Carl Albert State College Board. He was first appointed as a CASC Regent in 2011 and has just completed his term as the Chairman of the Board. With Governor Fallin’s reappointment of Williams, his new seven-year term extends until 2025.
Regent Williams received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona and continued his education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Williams began his professional career as a drilling fluids engineer before entering the banking industry in 1984. He embarked on a career as a licensed Financial Advisor in Poteau, OK with Stifel Nicolaus. Then, in 1997, Williams established his own financial services company where he continues his profession today.
Regent Williams is the Independent Financial Advisor for Asset & Investment Advisors, Inc., in Poteau, OK. Through his company, he serves clients in seven states and supervises three other financial advisors. He and his wife, Deann, have made Oklahoma their home since 1981.
Williams has been an active member in the Poteau community for more than seventeen years. He is a member of the Poteau Rotary Club, where he served as President for one term and received the distinguished Paul Harris Award. Per the request of Poteau Mayor, Jeff Shockley, Williams has served on the City of Poteau’s Planning Commission for the past 12 years. He is also a board member of the LeFlore County Development Authority and the LeFlore County Child Advocacy Center. He is a member of the Poteau Chamber of Commerce and has served on its Board of Directors for two terms and maintains a membership in the Downtown Poteau
Main Street Program.
Regent Williams is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has held numerous leadership positions there. He enjoys spending his free time working on his family’s u-pick blueberry business, Maple Creek Berry Farm, fly-fishing and hunting.
