Mark Duncan Baze – Carl Albert State College 2016 Rothbaum Outstanding Graduate
Mark Duncan Baze is the recipient of the Julian J. Rothbaum Outstanding Graduate Award at Carl Albert State College. The Rothbaum Award is the College’s highest academic honor bestowed on a CASC student.
The $1500 cash scholarship is in honor of the late Julian Rothbaum of Tulsa. Rothbaum was a close friend of U.S. Congressman Carl Albert, served as a Trustee of the CASC Development Foundation, was a great benefactor to Carl Albert State College, and provided the funding for the Outstanding Graduate Award. Criteria for the award include a 4.0 GPA, with proven leadership ability, involvement on campus and distinguished rank among peers
The son of Russell and Donna Baze, Mark graduated from Rattan High School prior to attending Carl Albert. He is a Pre-Med major and will continue his education at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in the fall to pursue a degree in chemistry with an emphasis in medical sciences. While at Carl Albert, Mark was a CASC Scholar, a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the former president of the Baptist Collegiate Ministries, and a recipient of the State Regent Scholarship.
When discussing his time at Carl Albert State College, Mark stated, “I would like to thank all my science and math instructors for all their effort and support as well as their desire for my success. I highly recommend Carl Albert, and I have truly enjoyed the two years I have spent here! Thank you very much!”
As the Rothbaum recipient, Mark spoke at the Carl Albert State College graduation on Friday, May 6, 2016.
