Carl Albert State College hosted “Meet the Vikings” on Thursday, January 25, 2018. Viking athletic donors from campus and the community were invited to attend and meet this year’s baseball players, softball players, and coaches.
CASC athletic director Randy Graves highlighted recent additions and renovations to the CASC athletic facilities, and reviewed on the field as well as academic accomplishments of the CASC athletes. Graves expressed appreciation for the support from campus and the community regarding Viking athletics.
Head baseball coach Tyler Guthrie and head softball coach David Holt introduced their teams and talked about expectations for this season. CASC baseball catcher Dylan Thurber from Vian spoke on behalf of the baseball team, and CASC softball pitcher Katie McCullar from Red Oak represented the softball team as spokesperson at the event.
According to Graves, one community guest was Bob Free (pictured with the coaches). Mr. Free was a Poteau Community College/Carl Albert Junior College coach in the late 1960s into the early 1970s.
