Miss Carl Albert State College Scholarship Pageant Set for Thursday, November 19, 2015

Contestants for the Carl Albert State College Miss CASC Pageant were recent guests at the home of Mrs. Deanna Reed for the annual Miss CASC Luncheon.

The 37th Annual Miss Carl Albert State College Scholarship Pageant will be Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Hamilton Auditorium on the Carl Albert State College campus in Poteau. Tickets are available at the CASC Bookstore. All seats are reserved and cost $10.00 each, with CASC students, faculty and staff tickets available for $5.

This year’s contestants, their hometown, talent and platform include:

  1. Destiny Morse from Heavener. Talent: Piano Solo. Platform: Voter Registration
  2. Ashley Moore from Poteau. Talent: Colorguard Routine. Platform: Every Child is Beautiful
  3. Emiley Montgomery from Rattan. Talent: Vocal Solo. Platform: Combat PTSD Awareness
  4. Brooke Youngblood from Watson. Talent: Taekwondo. Platform: Mental Care Movement
  5. Taryn Shelton from Poteau. Talent: Juggling.  Platform: Supporting Troops in the Middle East
  6. Maria-Elena Lee Hurtado-McCool from Poteau. Talent:  Dramatic Monologue.  Platform:  No Excuses
  7. Lily Friedl from Heavener. Talent:  Cherokee Sign Language. Platform: Autism Awareness
  8. Jocelyn Barcenas from Muldrow. Talent: Baritone. Platform: Awareness of the Elderly
  9. Chelsea Railey from Fort Smith. Talent: Vocal Solo.  Platform:  Chemo Rollers

According to Terri Hardin, Pageant Committee Co-chair, the Miss CASC Pageant is a member of the Miss America Organization, and a preliminary to the Miss Oklahoma Pageant. Contestants will compete in private interview, swimsuit, talent, evening wear, and on-stage question competitions. The new Miss Carl Albert State College 2016 will receive a $1,000 cash scholarship, 16 hour tuition waiver, and will compete in the Miss Oklahoma Pageant in June 2016. Bill Day serves as Co-chair with Hardin.
