Paying for College at Carl Albert State College – Now Easier than Ever!
Carl Albert State College has implemented an online payment plan to allow students the opportunity to make payments for tuition, fees and meals online.
Jim Hurst, CASC VP of Business Operations stated, “It is our hope this new payment plan will make attending Carl Albert more affordable than ever. We already offer the most affordable tuition/mandatory fees in the region for both Oklahoma and Arkansas students, and Nelnet is an additional way to help our students. With Nelnet, students will now be allowed to spread their payments out over several installments instead of having to pay the entire price up front. In addition to students paying with cash, they can now go through Nelnet and use a credit card, a debit card, or even do direct payments from their checking or savings account.”
Students attending this summer will be the first to use Nelnet. They can pay the full amount upfront online, or they can pay 25% down and pay the remaining balance over three payments. The other option is to pay 50% down and pay the remainder in two more payments. Students will have a four payment option for fall and again in spring. Students receiving financial aid will register for Nelnet services, but will not actually use the service if financial aid covers their costs.
Hurst explained, “Meal plans can also be paid out using the payment plan which will be an additional help to students and their families as they budget their out of pocket expenses. At this time housing payments are not available in the Nelnet plan, however as we move forward we may have options we can add.”
Rena’ Brooks, CASC Business Manager stated, “We believe this plan is a great way for students to better manage their finances for college. It may also be a way for students to avoid the need for student loans, or at least keep student loans to a minimum.” She concluded, “The CASC business office welcomes students to check with us for assistance with the Nelnet plan. In addition, Nelnet has representatives available online 24/7 to offer assistance with implementing and managing the plan.”
