Shelbie Malin Vaught – Student Success at Carl Albert State College
Shelbie Malin Vaught graduated from Carl Albert State College with a degree in Biological and Pre-Professional Sciences. She will transfer to Southeastern Oklahoma State University to major in Chemistry. The daughter of Coy and Rhonda Vaught, she came to CASC after graduating from Valliant High.
Shelbie stated, “While at Carl Albert, I have been a CASC Scholar, the Vice President of Leadership of Phi Theta Kappa, active in BCM, a member of the New Horizon Show Choir, served as a chemistry tutor, served as a CASC spokesperson at Senior Day, and lead a Women’s Bible Study group on campus.”
When asked about CASC faculty and staff, Shelbie shared, “Bentley Hill (BCM director) and his wife Susan (Division Chair of Communications and Fine Arts) helped me become involved in different activities and ministries while at college. Dana Dinsmore-Davis gave me the opportunity to perform in Show Choir and be involved in the community. Shirley Yandell (instructor) really helped me get through the transition from high school to college, and she has been a steady guide for me while at Carl Albert.”
Shelbie concluded, “Carl Albert State College has been a very influential and memorable part of my life. I had a wonderful learning experience while here, and feel I am now better prepared to transfer to a university. Carl Albert State College is an affordable place to attend, and has many programs where students can get involved. I highly recommend Carl Albert State College to anyone!
